FAQs

Will we meet in-person or virtually?

Your preference! I offer in-person sessions at my office in Fullerton, CA; and secure virtual sessions to anyone in the state of CA.

I’ve never been to therapy before, what should I expect?

A free 15 minute consultation is a great place to start. You can get to know me a bit and ask any questions you may have, and I can hear more about what you are looking for. If we decide to work together, we can discuss rates, availability, and I will email you a link to fill out initial paperwork.

During the first session, I’ll ask a lot of questions, and together we will make a solid plan to meet your goals.

Do you take insurance?

I am currently in network with Aetna and Cigna. For all others I am considered an out of network provider. For those with PPO plans, I can provide a “superbill” (receipt of services) which you may be able to submit for partial reimbursement, even out of network. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to inquire about reimbursement for out of network providers.

What are your rates, and how does payment work?

My rate is $150 for a standard 50 minute session. I have a limited number of sliding-scale openings based upon need. Payment is due at the time of session, and I am able to take cash, check, and credit cards, including HSA/FSA.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please contact me 24 hours before your appointment time if you need to cancel or reschedule. The full session fee will apply to any cancellations made after that time, with the exception of illness or family emergencies. (I get it, life happens!) For convenience, we are always able to switch from an in-person session to a telehealth (virtual) session.

What’s the difference between AMFT and LMFT?

An AMFT (Associate Marriage and Family Therapist) has completed their Masters degree, and a minimum year long internship as a therapist. After that, Associates must complete 3,000 further hours of therapy while working under a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and registered Supervisor. Associates meet weekly with their Supervising LMFT for case consultation. Once 3,000 hours are completed, an AMFT is eligible to take the licensing exam and become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
